Ok, let’s get the tricky bit out the way. I’m 67. A very fit and young-looking 67, but 67 nevertheless. I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Some of my best friends are 67, to coin a phrase. If you do think it’s a bad thing, then you’ve probably moved on already. I have a rather complicated family (all good, though), a wonderful son (25), lots of friends, and a fascinating career. What’s missing is a companion, a best friend. I tried retiring a decade and a half ago, after 30 years in business and a bit of journalism. Perhaps because I don’t play golf, it turns out I’m not very good at retiring. Instead, I fell into an extraordinary new career as a writer and speaker about the future of AI. I’m looking for a woman who is kind, clever, funny, established, and cute. There’s plenty of time for some more wonderful adventures. ..

I wish I could play guitar. I have made two serious and sustained attempts, but I am rubbish. In another life I would love to be the bass player in a successful band.

Music Enjoyed:

It's said that the music you like best is what you were listening to when you first started dating as a teenager. I got landed with Prog Rock: Genesis, Pink Floyd, Wishbone Ash and others. Plus Led Zeppelin, Bowie, Jeff Beck, George Michael, some Dylan, U2, Gerry Rafferty, Mike Oldfield and much more. I wish I enjoyed classical music more.

Sports and exercise:

Cycling, Gym, Ice Skating, In line Skating, Motorbikes, Skiing, Walking, I lived and worked in Dubai for three years in the 1980s, and fell in love with the desert. I have tried to recapture its awesome beauty and its sense of freedom and adventure ever since, in air sports (never mastered any), then mountain biking, and now mostly hiking.

I don't read as much fiction as I'd like. I try to catch up on classics (the last was Orwell's surprising Road to Wigan Pier), but I do enjoy pot boilers, like the Reacher books.

Favourite Films:

Good list. I'll add Tenet, Apocalypse Now, The Usual Suspects, and Hannibal (the one with Julianne Moore) to start with.

Enjoyable evening out:

Art Gallery, Cinema, Live Music, Pub, Restaurant, Wine bar

Favourite Dishes:

Pretty much all of the above. I think I should be vegetarian, or at least pescatarian, but I'm not. I wish lab-grown meat would hurry up and become economic.

Ideal Holiday:

Since the end of Covid I have spent a lot of time as a digital nomad, mostly in France and Italy. Fabulous. Mostly avoiding the US under its current management.

In another life:

An architect. Some of the names on this list were wonderful people, but most of them weren't very happy, or came to sticky ends.

Personality:

I started ticking boxes, but found I was ticking too many so I thought I should pick just three. I came up with Positive, intellectual, and aware. I would probably pick three different ones tomorrow.
